Supply

Complete with mounting hardware

Features

  • 6 volt system – original WWII/early post-war specification
  • 2" (51 mm) standard dashboard opening
  • Black dial with white needle
  • No illumination – as original
  • Complete with mounting hardware

★ Correct reproduction for restoration of 6 volt vehicles. Works with original fuel sender (resistance range approx. 7-9 ohms full, 130-140 ohms empty).

Application

For vehicles with original 6 volt electrical system as listed in the product categories. Suitable for use with the original variable-resistance fuel sender in the tank.

Installation notes

Requires 2" (51 mm) opening in dashboard. Connection via two terminals on rear: positive to 'S' (sender) and earth/ground. Works exclusively on 6 volt – not suitable for converted 12 volt systems without adapted gauge.

Compatibility

ONLY suitable for 6 volt systems. When converting to 12 volt, a 12 volt fuel gauge is necessary. Original gauges had no illumination; bezel is black (may be overpainted in OD green if desired).

Historical context

Original WWII military vehicles and early post-war jeeps used exclusively 6 volt electrical systems. The fuel gauge without illumination was standard until the early 1950s.
