★ Correct replica of the early pintle hook as used on WWII jeeps from November 1941 to spring 1942, with authentic STL marking.
Application
Specific to early Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps, such as slat grille models (chassis numbers up to approximately 25,808) and early stamped grille production. Safety chain eyebolts were not added until chassis number 158,372.
Installation notes
Mounts with four bolts to the rear cross-member of the chassis. Standard bolt pattern 3 3/8" x 1 3/4". Use Grade 8 bolts for mounting. Pintle hook provides sufficient vertical and horizontal movement for off-road towing.
Compatibility
This early STL-marked version is correct for slat grille jeeps and early MB/GPW production without safety chain provisions. Later production (from April 1944) used the welded 'parrot beak' version. Ford GPW often used hooks with script 'F' marking. Note: hooks marked 'HOLLAND' in the casting are later M-series production and not correct for WWII jeeps.
Historical context
The Holland T-60-A type pintle hook was produced for the first standard jeeps from November 1941. Early examples were marked with STL in the casting and did not yet have provisions for safety chains, which were only added later in production.
