Oil pump repair kit gear-driven type

4-piece set for gear-driven engine

Repair kit for the oil pump of the Willys L-134 engine with gear-driven timing. This set contains the essential components to rebuild a worn oil pump and restore correct operating pressure. Suitable for both flathead and overhead valve versions with gear timing.

Drive type

Gear-driven

Engine

Willys L-134 and F-134

Kit contents

4-piece repair kit

Application

Late CJ-2A, CJ-3A, M38, CJ-3B

Features

  • 4-piece repair kit with internal pump components
  • Only for engines with gear-driven timing
  • Suitable for L-134 flathead and F-134 overhead valve engines
  • Restores correct oil pressure and lubrication
  • Replacement parts for worn pump gears

★ This repair kit is exclusively intended for the gear-driven oil pump. Check before ordering whether your engine has chain-driven timing by removing the timing cover.

Application

Suitable for Willys 4-134 engines with gear-driven timing. This applies to late production CJ-2A (from approx. 1946-1949 with gear timing), CJ-3A (1949-1953), M38 (1950-1952), CJ-3B (1953-1964), as well as later civilian models with the same engine. NOT suitable for early MB, GPW or M201 with chain-driven timing.

Installation notes

Check the pump housing for cracks or wear before rebuilding. Measure clearance between gears and housing according to factory specifications. After assembly, fill the pump with petroleum jelly (NOT grease) to ensure self-priming. Normal oil pressure for a healthy 4-134 engine: 6 psi at idle, 20-35 psi at 2000 rpm.

Compatibility

IMPORTANT: The Willys L-134 engine was produced in two versions — early version with chain-driven timing and late version with gear-driven timing. This kit is ONLY for the gear-driven variant. Early WWII MB and GPW jeeps nearly all had chain-driven timing and CANNOT use this kit. Remove the timing cover to verify your type.

Historical context

During production of the Willys L-134 'Go Devil' engine, the manufacturer switched from chain-driven to the more reliable gear-driven timing for camshaft and oil pump. The gear-driven variant became standard on later civilian CJ models and the military M38.
