The spring is mounted on the tapered sleeve of the lunette eye, in front of the castle nut and washer. After assembly, the castle nut is tightened and secured with a split pin. The spring must have sufficient preload to prevent play but must not block rotation of the lunette eye.

Specific for 1/4 ton trailer lunette assemblies. Note: MBT and M416 lunette eyes are interchangeable and use the same angle/bevel. M100 lunette eyes have a different angle and are NOT interchangeable with MBT/M416 parts.
