Application
For restoration of American military vehicles from the WWII period (1941-1944). Suitable for bodywork, chassis and components of military equipment. The Lustreless (matt) finish was the standard factory finish for tactical vehicles.
Installation notes
Thoroughly prepare surface and prime with suitable primer. Paint may be thinned if necessary with max. 10% xylene or synthetic enamel reducer. Apply at room temperature in well-ventilated area. Several thin coats give better results than one thick coat. Drying time between coats: 15-20 minutes depending on temperature.
Compatibility
Please note: Olive Drab paint has many tint variations due to different manufacturers during WWII. This paint follows the specification Quartermaster Colour No. 22 as standardised in 1941. The colour may fade towards ochre-brown shades after years of exposure to sun and weather.
Historical context
Lustreless Olive Drab was standardised in October 1940 as Quartermaster Colour No. 22 for all new military vehicles from fiscal year 1941. The matt finish offered better camouflage than the earlier gloss variants and became the standard for tactical vehicles throughout the Second World War.
