ROD TORQUE REACTION ASS 6X6

Part name: ROD – Torque Reaction Assembly (6x6)
Application:

• Dodge WC-62, WC-63 (¾-ton 6x6)

• Prevents excessive axle rotation and stabilises front axle during acceleration and braking

• Mounted between front axle and chassis

Function:
The torque reaction rod limits forward and backward axle wrap of the front axle, especially under load or braking.
It improves steering stability and reduces leaf spring wear.

Technical specifications (TM specification):

• Overall length: ± 26 1/2" (673 mm) center-to-center

• Rod diameter: ± 1 1/8" (28.6 mm) solid steel

• Front axle end: bushing with 3/4"-16 UNF bolt

• Chassis end: rubber-bushed eye, 3/4"-16 UNF bolt

• Material: forged steel, heat treated

• Finish: olive drab (OD) paint, corrosion resistant

Installation sequence (TM 9-1808A / TM 9-810):

1. Raise vehicle to relieve front axle.

2. Remove locking devices from bolts at both ends.

3. Remove old rod and inspect bushings.

4. Install new rod – front axle end first, then chassis end.

5. Torque bolts to 120-140 ft-lbs (163-190 Nm).

6. Fit new cotter pins or locking plates.

Maintenance:

• Inspect bushings every 1,000 miles (1,600 km).

• Lubricate bushings according to TM schedule.

• Replace if cracked or excessively worn.
