Application
This starter fits all Dodge WC models equipped with the 230 ci engine and 146-tooth flywheel: 1/2 ton WC series (late T-211 and T-215, from mid-1941), 3/4 ton WC series (G-502 models WC-51 through WC-64, 1942-1945), and 1-1/2 ton 6x6 WC series (G-507 models WC-62/63, 1943-1945). Also applicable to early post-war Civilian Power Wagons (1946-1950) with 6 volt installation.
Installation notes
Check beforehand that your flywheel has 146 teeth — earlier engines used different configurations. All 6 volt WC trucks operate with positive earth. Ensure clean, tight electrical connections — this is crucial for reliable starting. Mounting is on the right-hand side of the engine.
Compatibility
NOT compatible with earlier T-207 engines (218 ci) or T-202 engines (201 ci) which had different flywheel configurations. Also not suitable for late WC-51, WC-52 or other models that were converted to 12 volt from late 1944 onwards for radio use. Always check the number of teeth on your flywheel before fitting.
Historical context
The Dodge WC series received the improved 230 cubic inch engine with 92 hp from August 1941, which remained standard on all WC trucks until the end of production in 1945. The 6 volt system with positive earth was standard on virtually all WC models, with the exception of some late radio vehicles that received 12 volt.
