Application
Used on Willys MB (1941-1945), Ford GPW (1942-1945) and Hotchkiss M201 models. The straps thread through the footman loops on the underside of the passenger seat and hold the correctly folded summer top, side curtains and windscreen cover in place. This arrangement was standard on all G503 jeeps throughout WWII.
Installation notes
Attach each strap through the footman loops on the underside of the passenger seat frame. The canvas top must be folded according to the original folding method before being secured under the seat. Ensure the straps are tightened sufficiently to prevent movement whilst driving, but not so tight as to damage the buckle or canvas.
Compatibility
Fits original seat frames of Willys MB, Ford GPW and Hotchkiss M201 with pre-fitted footman loops under the passenger seat. Not compatible with post-war civilian models (CJ-2A, CJ-3A) which have a different seat and top storage configuration. Verification of footman loops presence is necessary before fitting.
Historical context
During WWII, the canvas top, when not in use, was folded and stored under the passenger seat using these straps. This system provided compact storage and kept the top protected from weathering during transport.
