O. Drive Lamp Switch

Push-pull type for dashboard

Reproduction of the original push-pull switch for the blackout driving lamp on the dashboard. This switch was fitted to vehicles equipped with a blackout driving lamp on the left mudguard and the early push-pull lighting system (prior to the introduction of the rotary switch in mid-1944).

Type

Mounting

Version

Features

  • Push-pull operating system
  • Knob with "B.O. DRIVE" inscription in white letters
  • Suitable for vehicles with blackout driving lamp
  • For early version with push-pull switches
  • Complete and ready for installation

★ Correct reproduction of the original dashboard switch for the blackout driving lamp, with proper marking in accordance with military specifications.

Application

This switch was used on vehicles equipped with the blackout driving lamp (mounted on the left mudguard) and the early lighting system with separate push-pull switches. From mid-1944 onwards, the push-pull system was replaced by a rotary main switch combining all lighting functions, making the separate B.O. Drive switch redundant.

Installation notes

Fit to the dashboard on the left-hand side. The switch controls the blackout driving lamp independently of the main lighting system. Verify that your vehicle has the early push-pull system and not the later rotary switch.

Compatibility

ONLY for vehicles with early push-pull lighting system (production until approximately June 1944). NOT compatible with late production vehicles fitted with the rotary main switch, as this integrates the B.O. Drive switch function.

Historical context

The blackout driving lamp was not originally fitted as standard on early WWII jeeps. Many vehicles were subsequently equipped with this lamp and corresponding switch through Work Orders, often as field installations.
