Application
Suitable for Dodge WC series military vehicles (1941-1945), including WC 1/2 ton 4x4 (1941-1942), WC 3/4 ton 4x4 (1942-1945) and WC 1-1/2 ton 6x6 (1943-1945). Also applicable to early civilian Power Wagons (1946-1950) with 6-volt system. Check mounting dimensions and connections for your specific application.
Installation notes
The switch is mounted on the firewall or inner wing panel and acts as a relay between battery and starter motor. On WC series vehicles, the switch is activated via the ignition switch or foot starter switch. Ensure clean, solid connections — 6-volt systems are sensitive to voltage loss from poor contacts. Check that the mounting holes match your original switch (mounting distance center-to-center varies by type).
Compatibility
Please note: different versions exist with different mounting distances (1-1/2" and 1-3/4" center-to-center). Check your original switch for the correct dimensions. This part is specific to 6-volt systems — not suitable for 12-volt conversions without modifications. Autolite and Delco-Remy type switches have different connection configurations.
Historical context
During WWII, both Auto-Lite and Delco-Remy supplied starter switches for the Dodge WC series. These robust switches had to function reliably under extreme conditions — from the North African desert to the Ardennes.
