★ Reproduction to original WWII specifications for correct mounting of the universal gun rack to the windscreen frame.
Application
Willys MB and Ford GPW built from September 1943 onwards with factory gun rack, and Hotchkiss M201. Also suitable for earlier MB/GPW vehicles where the gun rack was added as a field kit. Fitting requires welding to the windscreen frame.
Installation notes
Bracket is welded to the inside of the lower windscreen frame on the right-hand side. The gun rack is then attached using 5/16 NC carriage bolts 3/4 inch long, with the square shoulder through the square mounting holes. Washers and nuts on the windscreen side. Left-hand bracket (LH) required separately for complete fitting.
Compatibility
Fits Willys MB, Ford GPW and Hotchkiss M201. Late-war jeeps (from September 1943 onwards) had these brackets welded at the factory. For early-war vehicles, a field kit was offered to fit the gun rack retrospectively. Please note: this is the right-hand bracket (RH) only – left-hand bracket must be ordered separately.
Historical context
The universal gun rack was introduced in October 1942 and fitted as standard equipment on MB and GPW jeeps from September 1943 onwards. The system was designed for the M1 Garand but could also hold the M1 Carbine and Thompson submachine guns.
