Installation notes

The seat frame is mounted on the original mounting points in the floor of the Command Car. Four metal legs with mounting holes. The front seat of Command Cars was originally not adjustable; for taller drivers, extension strips can be used to move the seat backwards. Upholstery (not included) is attached to the wooden frame with tacks or rivets.

Compatibility

Only suitable for Dodge 3/4 ton Command Car models WC56, WC57 and WC58. NOT compatible with Dodge WC51/WC52 Weapons Carriers, WC54 Ambulance, or other WC-series models that had a different seat design. Note the difference between front seat (2-seat bench) and rear seats (removable benches).

Historical context

The Dodge 3/4 ton Command Cars were produced from 1942 to April 1944 as command vehicles for senior officers. Due to their recognisable profile they were an easy target and were replaced by the less conspicuous Jeep. In total, 21,156 WC56, 6,010 WC57 and 2,344 WC58 examples were built.
