Turn Signal Flasher 12 Volt

For conversion to turn signals

Electronic turn signal flasher relay for 12 volt electrical systems. Essential component when fitting turn signals to vehicles that originally had no indicators, or after conversion from 6 volt to 12 volt.

Voltage

12 volt

Type

3-terminal relay

Application

Turn signal adaptation

Connection

X (power supply), P (pilot lamp), L (to switch)

Features

  • 12 volt version for converted systems
  • 3 terminals: X (supply), P (indicator lamp), L (to turn signal switch)
  • Ready for direct connection to existing wiring
  • Essential for turn signal installation
  • Suitable for standard incandescent bulbs

★ Professional replacement relay for 12V turn signal installations on classic military vehicles.

Application

For vehicles converted to 12 volt electrical system and where turn signals are being added or replaced. Fits standard 3-terminal turn signal wiring with supply (X), indicator lamp (P) and output to switch (L).

Installation notes

Connections: X terminal to 12V power supply (ignition switch), P terminal to optional pilot lamp in switch, L terminal to blue wire on turn signal switch. Check earth connection of turn signal switch. Note: this relay is NOT suitable for LED lamps — a special LED-compatible relay is required for these.

Compatibility

For 12 volt systems only. NOT compatible with original 6 volt or 24 volt installations. For LED turn signals, a different type of relay is required (LED-compatible with electronic load resistor). Standard 3-terminal version — verify that your installation has 3 connections.

Historical context

Turn signals were not standard equipment on WWII military vehicles such as the Willys MB and Ford GPW. Later civilian variants received turn signals as an option or standard from the late 1940s onwards. During restorations, modern 12V turn signal installations are often added for safety in modern traffic.
