★ Essential for anyone wishing to mark a Dodge WC57 Command Car as they were prepared for shipment to the front.

Application

Specifically for Dodge WC57 Command and Reconnaissance vehicles (¾-ton 4×4 with winch). The WC57 was the winch variant of the WC56 Command Car, produced between April 1942 and April 1944. Only 6,010 units were built, making this one of the rarest Dodge WC models.

Installation notes

Shipping stencils were applied in white, maximum 4 inches high, on the front and rear of the vehicle prior to shipment from the USA. To be applied with white lusterless paint on Olive Drab background. Use stippling/dabbing technique for neat finish.

Compatibility

This stencil is exclusively intended for Dodge WC57 Command Car vehicles. The WC57 is distinguished from the WC56 by the presence of a Braden MU-2 winch with 7,500 lbs capacity in the front bumper. Not suitable for WC56 (without winch) or WC58 (radio variant).

Historical context

The Dodge WC57 was a ¾-ton 4×4 command and reconnaissance vehicle, fitted with a front winch. Production was discontinued in April 1944 because the distinctive open profile of command cars attracted too much attention from enemy troops. Shipping markings were applied during Preparation for Overseas Movement (POM) according to Army Regulations AR 850-5.
