Adjustment Needle Zenith Carburettor Model 29

Adjustment needle for fuel mixture

Adjustment needle for the Zenith Model 29 carburettor as fitted to WWII Dodge military vehicles. This adjustment needle controls the fuel-air ratio and is essential for correctly setting the fuel system.

Application

Zenith Model 29 carburettor

Function

Fuel mixture adjustment

Type

Adjustment needle / adjuster

Period

WWII 1942-1945

Features

  • Adjustment needle for Zenith Model 29 carburettor
  • Controls fuel-air ratio
  • Essential for correct engine performance
  • Original type adjuster
  • Suitable for overhaul and maintenance

★ The Zenith Model 29 was the early carburettor fitted to Dodge WC-series vehicles (1942-1943), later replaced by Carter models. The adjustment needle is a crucial component for correctly setting the fuel mixture.

Application

For Dodge WC 3/4 ton 4x4 (1942-1943, early) and WC 1-1/2 ton 6x6 (1943, early) with Zenith Model 29 carburettor. Note: from mid-1943 the Zenith was replaced by Carter carburettors - therefore check first which carburettor type is fitted to your vehicle.

Installation notes

When adjusting: main mixture needle 4-4.5 turns open from closed position as starting point. Idle mixture needle 1-1.5 turns open. Allow engine to warm up before final adjustment. Clockwise adjustment = richer mixture (less air), anticlockwise = leaner mixture (more air).

Compatibility

ONLY for Zenith Model 29 carburettor. Not compatible with later Carter ETW1, DTA-1, DTA-2 or DTB3R carburettors fitted to Dodge WC-series from mid-1943 onwards. Check the type plate on your carburettor to ensure the correct model.

Historical context

The Zenith Model 29 was the standard carburettor on early WWII Dodge WC-series vehicles. Due to problems with vapour lock and the notorious 'Dodge cough' phenomenon during acceleration, it was replaced from 1943 onwards by Carter models.
