★ Professionally reconditioned distributor for the early Dodge WC ½-ton series, with original vacuum advance as fitted before the change to centrifugal advance.
Application
This distributor is specific to early Dodge WC ½-ton models (WC1-WC20) from the first production series:
- T207 models (WC1 through WC11)
- T211 models (WC12 through WC20) up to engine #42001
From engine #42001 on the T211 series and on all subsequent T214 and T215 models, the change was made to centrifugal advance. Therefore check the engine number on the left engine block below the head before ordering this distributor.
Installation notes
The distributor is driven via the oil pump with a slot at the bottom of the distributor shaft. Ensure the old clip on the shaft is completely removed. The vacuum hose runs via the governor to the distributor. Set the ignition timing correctly after fitting.
Compatibility
NOTE: Only for EARLY WC models with vacuum advance. Later WC ½-ton models (T211 from engine #42001, T214, T215) and all ¾-ton models (WC51 and later) use a different distributor with centrifugal advance instead of vacuum advance. These are NOT interchangeable.
Historical context
The earliest Dodge WC military lorries from 1940-1942 still had vacuum advance on the distributor, as did many commercial Dodge models from that period. From mid-1941, Dodge changed to centrifugal advance for improved reliability under military conditions.
