Installation notes
Installation requires a brake rivet tool. The rivet is pushed through the pre-drilled brake lining and backing plate. Press on the head whilst the tubular end is rolled out with an anvil. This creates clamping force between lining and brake shoe. Ensure the cavity does not extend beyond the inside of the backing plate to prevent loose fastening.
Compatibility
The brake lining must be pre-drilled for the rivet. Select the correct length to match the thickness of your brake lining. Different lengths available for different brake lining thicknesses (standard 1/4" thick for Dodge WC).
Historical context
Rivets were the standard fastening method for brake linings on WWII military vehicles. This offers the advantage that brake shoes can be reused by removing old rivets and fitting new linings.
