★ Replacement valve spring for the reliable Dodge 6-cylinder flathead engine. During engine overhaul, all valve springs should preferably be replaced to ensure correct valve operation.
Application
Suitable for the Dodge T214 engine (230 ci / 3.8 litre). This engine was fitted to the 3/4 ton WC series from mid-1941 until the end of 1945. Note: the T214, T215 and T223 engine blocks are virtually identical and use the same valve springs.
Installation notes
During installation, the closely wound end of the spring must face the engine block. Check the free length of the spring (specification: 2.5 inches) and replace springs that deviate by more than 10%. Use a valve spring compressor tool specifically designed for L-head engines to prevent damage.
Compatibility
This valve spring fits all variants of the Dodge 230 ci L-head 6-cylinder engine (T214, T215, T223). Both inlet and exhaust valves use the same spring. Not compatible with the earlier 218 ci T207 engine or later overhead valve engines.
Historical context
The Dodge T214 engine was the heart of the 3/4 ton WC series lorries during WWII. This robust 230 cubic inch flathead engine produced 92 bhp at low revs and was designed for reliability and torque, not for power.
