Double-acting hydraulic telescopic shock absorber that dampens vertical and lateral rear axle movement to improve comfort, stability, and load control.
The cone-shaped upper stud provides self-centering and vibration-resistant mounting.

Installation sequence (TM 9-1808A):

Raise vehicle to relieve rear axle load.

Remove nut from upper cone stud.

Detach lower mounting bolt.
-
Install new shock absorber, lower end first.

Insert upper cone stud and tighten nut.

Check for free suspension travel.
Maintenance:

Inspect for leaks and worn bushings.

Check stroke: smooth and even without hesitation.

Always replace in axle pairs.
