★ High-quality bronze bush, manufactured to original specifications for WWII Dodge WC-series lorries. Essential for correct spring assembly and optimal road holding.
Application
This bush is used for mounting the rear leaf springs on Dodge WC 3/4-ton lorries (G502, models WC-51 through WC-64, production 1942-1945) and the 1½-ton 6x6 variants (G507, models WC-62 and WC-63). The bush is pressed into the eye of the main leaf and forms the connection with the spring bracket on the frame or the rear shackle.
Installation notes
Bush must be fully pressed into the spring eye until it sits flush with both sides. Preferably use a press or a threaded rod construction with large washers and nuts to gradually draw the bush into place. Cooling the bush (freezer) and/or heating the spring eye facilitates installation considerably. Ensure the bush is not pressed in at an angle.
Compatibility
Fits all Dodge WC 3/4-ton (G502) and 1½-ton 6x6 (G507) models. Please note: early ½-ton WC models (G505, before late 1941) had a different spring configuration and possibly different bush dimensions. Not compatible with post-war Dodge Power Wagon without verification of dimensions. Always check bush dimensions before ordering.
Historical context
The Dodge WC-series was produced in large numbers between 1942 and 1945 for the Allied forces, with nearly 380,000 examples built. The semi-elliptic leaf springs with bronze bushes formed a robust suspension system capable of withstanding extreme terrain conditions from North Africa to the Pacific.
