Application:

  • Dodge WC-51, WC-52, WC-53, WC-54 (¾-ton 4x4)

  • Rear axle, right side

  • Upper mount: cone stud, lower mount: eye with rubber bushing

Function:
Double-acting hydraulic telescopic shock absorber that dampens vertical and lateral rear axle movement to improve comfort, stability, and load control.
The cone-shaped upper stud provides self-centering and vibration-resistant mounting.

Technical specifications (TM):

  • Type: double-acting, hydraulic, serviceable

  • Extended length: ± 21.50" (546 mm)

  • Compressed length: ± 13.00" (330 mm)

  • Stroke: ± 8.50" (216 mm)

  • Upper mount: cone stud, base Ø ± 11/16" (17.46 mm)

  • Lower mount: eye with rubber bushing, bolt Ø 7/16" (11.11 mm)

  • Cylinder diameter: ± 1.625" (41 mm)

  • Fluid: MIL-O-13826 shock absorber oil

Installation sequence (TM 9-1808A):

  1. Raise vehicle to relieve rear axle load.

  2. Remove nut from upper cone stud.

  3. Detach lower mounting bolt.

  4. Install new shock absorber, lower end first.

  5. Insert upper cone stud and tighten nut.

  6. Check for free suspension travel.

Maintenance:

  • Inspect for leaks and worn bushings.

  • Check stroke: smooth and even without hesitation.

  • Always replace in axle pairs.
